ShAFF Festival Director Matt Heason said, “I’m delighted ‘North of the Sun’ has scooped one of adventure sport filmmakers’ most prestigious prizes, all the more so because it was also the Grand Prize winner at this year’s Sheffield Adventure Film Festival. We’re proud of ShAFF’s proven track record of encouraging independent film-makers and picking inspiring films that go on to be real crowd-pleasers.”
“I can understand why Banff jury member Richard Else described North of the Sun as ‘about as close as you can get to the perfect adventure film’ with a ‘wonderful story, engaging personalities and breathtaking camera work’ that’s expertly edited.”
“There’s also a chance to watch the full length edit of climbing hit ‘Wideboyz’ by British filmmakers Hot Aches - the long and short edits scooped the top two prizes in the Best Climbing Film category at ShAFF.”
“We’d also like to wish Martyn Ashton all the best in his rehab from his spinal injuries sustained during a fall during a trials demo at the Moto GP at Silverstone in September. We look forward to seeing the sequel to Road Bike Party. Meanwhile, grab the opportunity to see why he’s described as ‘UK mountain bike trials legend’ by watching the original viral hit on the big screen.” Read more on RoadCC
“If you’re an adventure/outdoor/extreme sports, travel or environmental/cultural film-maker, you’ve still got two weeks to submit your film to next year’s Sheffield Adventure Film Festival.” Click here to find out more about submitting a film to ShAFF (Deadline 1 Dec).
“We’re also on the look out for talented local musicians and bands to submit potential tracks for our 2014 trailer. Between them our past two year’s videos with trailers by Sheffield bands Hey Sholay (‘Wishbone’) and Screaming Maldini (Summer Somewhere). have had more than 190,000 hits. If you’ve got a 3 or 4 minute tune that makes you want to sing and dance and lyrics that that make you want to laugh and cry, then please get in touch.”
PS if you're not lucky enough to live in Sheffield, you can also catch special edits of Wideboyz and North of the Sun as part the European Outdoor Film Tour at venues across the UK from 15 - 23 November.
