SCREAMING MALDINI (21:15-21:45)
We love Sheffield 5 piece band Screaming Maldini so much we've used them for the ShAFF Trailers last year and again this year. Led by the genius song-craft of multi-instrumentalist Nick Cox, they've carved out a sound that is as unique as it is poppy and exciting as it is intelligent. Maldini combine five-part vocal harmonies and lyrics that read like something out of a long-lost Brothers Grimm note book, with trumpets, organs, strings, glockenspiels, guitars, drums, percussion, bass, and piano, to orchestrate the most epic pop hooks and choruses imaginable. In female vocalist, Gina Walters, they have one of the most beautifully captivating and distinctive voices out there, capable of silencing a whole room of chatter within a few notes. "WOW! Assertive, assured, different, free-ranging. It's an amazingly sure-footed début record. One of the most exciting things I've heard for months." - Tom Robinson (BBC 6Music). Like them on Facebook and listen on Soundcloud. Watch them live at ShAFF last year in our video round up.
HOT SOLES (22:00-22:30)
Described by Exposed magazine as "A band whose music feels like divebombing into a swimming pool full of cadillacs. The classic influences are there in singer and guitarist Kieran’s Little Richard yelps, while drummer Richie’s backbeats have the kind of crisp Earl Palmer snaps and kicks that chase the 50’s into a twenty first century alley." JOSH KEMP (14:15-14:45)
Josh Kemp is a singer songwriter who uses just an acoustic guitar and a loop pedal to create a sound thicker and bigger than your normal acoustic artist. Having played 220 gigs on repetitive tours of the UK in 2013, including 26 festivals, his set and audience participation skills are perfectly practiced to suit both main stage festivals and more intimate acoustic gigs. Josh has been playing and writing music since he was 4 years old but it was only after the success of his summer 2012 olympic show in front of 18,000 people that he started turning ears and managed to land support slots with the likes of Mark Morris (from the Bluetones), The Coronas (who 2 weeks after sold out the O2 Dublin), London songwriter Frank Hamilton and played festivals like Ynot Festival, where people were queuing out of the tent to sing along to Josh’s ‘Hangover song’, and Oxford Folk Festival. Through the buzz he had generated on the local music scene in the Midlands, Josh secured air play on local radio stations around the UK and was the BBC’s featured artist for Andy Potters BBC Derby acoustic afternoon show, BBC Manchester, as well as being featured multiple times on Dean Jackson's 'The Beat' for BBC Introducing, and labelled as one to watch for 2014. WHISKEY BOB SHAKER (15.00-15.30)

Chesterfield based and bringing over 20 years experience, Whiskey Bob works the crowd like a master and always leaves them feeling satisfied. Like Whisky Bob on Facebook.

MIDNIGHT WIRE (18:00-18:30)
Midnight Wire are a four piece Indie/Rock band from Leicester – previously described as a cross between Two Door Cinema Club and The Libertines. Their first worldwide release ‘Oh Lola’ received national radio play and was toured with Midnight Wire’s debut 35 date headline UK tour. Their second release ‘Not Just Selfish’ received worldwide radio play and was also toured extensively. The track has now racked up over 70,000 views which is an astonishing feat for any unsigned band. Recent shows have seen them appear at Gary Numan, Chris McCormack and Carl Barat’s club night ‘Jubilee’ at the Camden Barfly, multiple O2 Academies as well as appearances at the likes of Summer Sundae Festival, Riverside Festival, Strawberry Fields Festival and a hometown show at De Monfort Hall in Leicester. Other successes include headline appearances at Oxjam Islington and Oxjam Hackney and being crowned winners of the OBS 2012. Midnight Wire’s most recent track ‘Never Gonna Leave LA’ was featured on Huw Stephens BBC Radio 1 track of the week and received over 27 plays in its first day on radio. The release saw the band attract the attention of a number of major record labels and the next release seems more than likely to be a success. In aid of charity, Midnight Wire agreed to feature at Soccer Six alongside Babyshambles, The Enemy, XFM and many more. With the debut album out in March 2014 - this is the band to watch out for.
