The Maestro of Mongolia
One fine day Jerry Aylmer found himself in Tajikistan, in possession of a totally unsuitable car.
He had quit his trading job in London in order to try and make a difference rather than a profit. Having driven an ambulance from the UK to donate to a hospital in Tajikistan, he now had a new mission - to deliver a small car to a charity in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. A sturdy 4x4 would be the normal minimum requirement for the 10,000km journey on terrible roads at nearly 5,000m altitude with temperatures as low as minus 20C. Instead, Jerry had Marvin, a Rover Maestro.
His film is a story of fascinating people, yurts, blizzards and being held up at gunpoint; a journey of self discovery while getting lost in the vast Mongolian wilderness.
