Accelerate Running Hub
Accelerate are back at ShAFF and this year they're putting on a full weekend of Q&A, talks and run outs - plus a selection of footwear and equipment from some of our key brands, such as Scott, inov-8 and Salomon - in the Accelerate #RunningHub.
Upstairs in the Workstation - Stu, Debs and the Accelerate Performance Centre team will be hosting an informal drop-in for anybody with an interest in running. The #RunningHub will be a place to come and chat, ask questions, take in information, swap stories, purchase kit, meet the Accelerate team, sample the Accelerate Performance Centre's range of treatments and expert advice. All levels, from complete non-runners through to the elite. It's all going on at the #RunningHub @ShefAdvFilmFestival.

WHAT'S ON
Talks (£3) and a Group Run (£5) offer a chance to get involved with expert advice and instruction that will benefit runners at all levels. PLUS - throughout the weekend, our free drop-in clinic sessions will offer advice and a sample of the treatment available from Accelerate Performance Centre (APC). Learn how runners, walkers and climbers can prevent injury and increase strength while maintaining good form.
FRIDAY NIGHT
- 19.00 – 22.00 – Open drop-in for anyone to chat and chill with like minded running enthusiasts.
Saturday
- 10.00 – 15.00 – Drop-in clinic and focus on running equipment:
- 11.00 - Focus on Mountain Marathon kit (what do you need, tips and advice).
- 12.00 - Focus on Shoes (is your shoe the right shoe for you, is it worn out, what features are in shoes, what is the brand story).
- 13.30 - Focus on Training programs (the rules of how to write a training program).
- 15.00 – 16.30 – TALK (£3 per person) '5 Common Running Injuries' – with APC's Colin Papworth and Ian Brocklesby. Plantar Fasciitis, Runners Knee, ITB, Hamstring strains, Achilles Tendons – definition, what causes it, how to treat – short and medium term, long term back to running and rehab/prevention.
- 17.00-18.00 – Focus Climbing injuries – treatment and prevention. Hosted by APC Physio Ian Brocklesby.
- 18.30 – 20.00 – TALK (£3 per person) '10k Training for Ultras' – Stu Hale and Stu Walker. Coach and Athlete together, talking through the guiding principles of 10k training and how they can be employed when training for successful ultra marathon running. Stu Hale has a lifetime of experience in sports coaching and footwear design/testing. He heads up Team Accelerate, with his athletes enjoying success at international level. Stu Walker is a Sheffield based runner and previoius speaker at ShAFF, who with Stu Hale's help, has already set course records and achieved incredible victories in Fell Running, Ultra Distance Trail Running and Multi-Day Adventure Racing around the world.
- 20.00 – 22.00 Drop in and social.
Sunday
- 10.00 – 12.30 – Join us for a RUN and BRUNCH. (£5per person) A mixture of urban trail running and drills for hills, speed and endurance, PLUS post run brunch at 11.30am with Nutrition advice from APC's Hannah Bailey. Food for training, racing and expeditions. All you need to know about getting the most from your food and eating habits. There will be test shoes available from Scott for all runners to use on the run (4 miles approx).
- 13.00 – 13.30 – Drop-in and meet Houghboy. Hear some running tales. Some of woe, some of triumph.
- 14.00 – 15.00 – Drop-in focus on Kit for racing and training – ultras and multiday events.
