About THE JUDGES:
JON GRiFFITH
Based in Chamonix, France, Jonathan Griffith has climbed the world over and established himself as one of the world’s leading mountain sports photographers. A highly accomplished Alpinist himself, Jonathan continues to push himself to shoot what has never been shot before. This approach has taken his climbing to a level that sees him regularly tie in with climbers such as Ueli Steck and embarking on cutting edge ascents to visually document expeditions in the Alps, Patagonia, Alaska and the Himalayas. It’s a method that puts authentic climbing at its heart: an increasingly rare but refreshing approach to adventure photography in a climate where style is valued more than substance.
LUKASZ WARZECHA
Over the past five years Peak District based Lukasz Warzecha (LW Images) has carved out a formidable reputation as one of the top adventure photographers in the world, living everyday life by his own words that 'This is the most exciting time to be a photographer ever!'
From documenting the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cups, shooting portraits of Reinhold Messner at the London's Royal Geographical Society or mountain biking in the Outer Hebrides (cover story of The Guardian Travel) to filming short feature films (his ’Sub-Zero’ EpicTV series has reached over 2M views) his work spans across a whole spectrum of outdoor activities. He has photographed on four continents on assignment for National Geographic, The North Face, WL GORE, Mountain Equipment, Petzl and Black Diamond (among others).
